The Galliano-Era Cult Classic

The Gambler was part of John Galliano's Fall/Winter 2004 collection for Christian Dior, one of the more theatrical accessory moments of his tenure at the house. The collection played directly with gambling references, translating the theme into handbags decorated with oversized dice and swarovski crystal Dior detailing.

This particular version combines leopard-print calf hair, ruby-red velvet and black patent leather, finished with chunky gold-tone chain handles and the distinctive dice charms. The exaggerated mix of texture, animal print and casino-inspired hardware is quintessentially Galliano-era Dior, making the Gambler a particularly recognisable piece of the house's early-2000s archive, still continually sought after by collectors as one of Dior’s more rare and distinctive pieces.

Material: Leopard-print calf hair with deep red velvet and black patent leather trim, gold-tone hardware.

Features: Structured bowling-bag silhouette, twin leather-and-chain handles, double zip closure and signature hanging dice charms embellished with crystal Dior detailing.

This bag presents in good vintage condition overall, with the majority of its distinctive materials and detailing remaining very well preserved. Specific notes are as follows:

Black patent leather trim and base are in very good condition, with minimal signs of wear.
Red velvet is in good condition, with some areas of light creasing as pictured.
Calf hair is generally in good condition, with a few areas of minor hair loss, most notably towards the front left corner. This remains relatively mild overall.
Gold-tone chain handles and black zip are in very good condition.
Signature Dior dice charms and crystal detailing are in good condition, with some faint scratching to the central dice charm.
Back and sides of the bag show very mild creasing.
Interior shows minor signs of previous use, while the Dior Oblique lining remains in very good condition.

If your bag isn't quite right, you may return it within 14 days of delivery for a refund. Returns must be sent back in the exact condition received, with all accompanying items (dust bag, authenticity card and packaging where supplied), and with the EBV London security tag attached and intact. Return postage is arranged by you using a fully tracked and insured service — we recommend Royal Mail Special Delivery within the UK or DHL Express internationally.
