The One

Coco Chanel introduced the original 2.55 flap in February 1955 -- a bag she designed for herself, to wear on her own shoulder. In 1983, Karl Lagerfeld replaced its Mademoiselle lock with the now-iconic double CC turnlock, and the Classic Flap was born. It is, by any measure, the most recognised luxury bag in the world.

This is a vintage example in black lambskin: the most enduring colourway, the most coveted material, and the format that has defined the silhouette since Lagerfeld first showed it. The piece is accompanied by its original booklet with retailer stamp -- a rare and complete provenance record for a piece of this age.

Market Note

Chanel has raised the retail price of the Classic Flap repeatedly over the past decade -- the current medium in lambskin retails above £8000 new. Vintage examples with full provenance (authentication cards and purchase booklet) are increasingly sought by collectors who value both the documentation and the early-production lambskin construction. Black medium flaps with gold hardware remain the most liquid single entry point in the entire secondary luxury market.

Material: Black quilted lambskin leather with gold-tone chain strap and hardware throughout. Red grosgrain interior lining.

Features: Signature diamond-quilted flap closure with gold-tone CC turnlock, gold-tone chain-link shoulder strap (wearable doubled at 49cm or at full length of 75cm), exterior rear slip pocket, and 'CHANEL PARIS' gold-stamped leather interior label.

Era: Vintage (Karl Lagerfeld era). Purchase date stamped in original booklet: 16 July 2000.

Condition: Good

This bag presents in good vintage condition overall. Given its age, the lambskin has retained exceptional suppleness and the structure remains very good throughout. Specific notes are as follows:

Quilted lambskin exterior is in good condition with only very light signs of use; no obvious marks, tears, or structural damage.
Corners, edges, and base are in good condition with no obvious signs of wear.
Exterior rear slip pocket shows two very faint, very mild surface scratches; visible only on close inspection.
Lambskin remains supple and the quilted shape is well-retained.
Gold-tone CC turnlock and all chain hardware are in very good condition throughout; no significant tarnishing or loss of finish noted.
Interior leather flap shows indentation marks on the left side where the hardware has pressed into the leather over time; mild indentation also present on the right side but less pronounced. Shown in product imagery.
Interior leather shows light signs of use with mild creasing consistent with age and regular carry.
Red grosgrain interior lining shows very light signs of wear, consistent with vintage use.

Accompanied by two original Chanel dustbags (one felt, one cotton), original Chanel authentication cards, and original Chanel purchase booklet.

Once your bag is on its way, you'll receive a tracking link by email so you can follow it from our hands to yours. We ship worldwide; international buyers may be liable for import duties or taxes levied by their destination country at the point of arrival.

If your bag isn't quite right, you may return it within 14 days of delivery for a refund. Returns must be sent back in the exact condition received, with all accompanying items (dust bag, authenticity card and packaging where supplied), and with the EBV London security tag attached and intact. Return postage is arranged by you using a fully tracked and insured service — we recommend Royal Mail Special Delivery within the UK or DHL Express internationally.
