The Saddle bag is one of the most culturally loaded objects John Galliano produced during his tenure at Dior. Introduced for Spring/Summer 2000, it was shaped after a horse’s saddle — a deliberate nod to the house’s equestrian heritage — and became the defining It-bag of the early 2000s almost instantly. Paris Hilton, Sarah Jessica Parker, and virtually every front-row name of the era were photographed with it; at its peak it was counterfeited on a scale that rivalled the Fendi Baguette.

Rendered here in the Oblique Trotter canvas — Dior’s all-over monogram jacquard, first introduced in the 1960s — against black leather trim and silver hardware, this is the Galliano-era original. Brought back in SS2018 by then creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri to enormous commercial success, the early 2000s runs remain the pieces serious collectors are after.

Material: Black/navy Oblique Trotter jacquard canvas with smooth black leather trim and silver-tone hardware.

Features: Signature saddle silhouette, iconic silver-tone 'D' stirrup hardware at the base, single adjustable smooth black leather shoulder strap with silver-tone hook clips, a central leather tab with silver 'D' detail, and a magnetic snap closure. Interior finished in black satin lining with a single zip pocket.

Era: Produced in the early 2000s (John Galliano Era, Serial No. RU1002 / Made in Italy).

This bag presents in very good pre-owned condition with only the most minimal signs of wear:

Oblique Trotter canvas body is in very good condition throughout with no obvious marks, staining or structural distortion.
Black leather trim — including the base, edges and flap border — is in very good condition with no cracking or obvious wear.
Silver-tone ‘D’ stirrup hardware and all metal detailing are in near-pristine condition with no obvious tarnishing or scratching.
Shoulder strap is in very good condition with only very light creasing; hardware clips show no signs of wear.
Central leather tab connecting to the ‘D’ hardware shows slightly more obvious creasing consistent with natural use — visible in the product imagery.
Interior satin lining appears unused and is in near-pristine condition.
Serial number tag reads: Made in Italy / RU1002.

We ship worldwide; international buyers may be liable for import duties or taxes levied by their destination country at the point of arrival.

If your bag isn't quite right, you may return it within 14 days of delivery for a refund. Returns must be sent back in the exact condition received, with all accompanying items (dust bag, authenticity card and packaging where supplied), and with the EBV London security tag attached and intact. Return postage is arranged by you using a fully tracked and insured service — we recommend Royal Mail Special Delivery within the UK or DHL Express internationally.
