The Fendi Spy arrived for Spring/Summer 2005 and created something Fendi had never seen before: a waiting list. Designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi, its rounded silhouette, woven handles, and hidden compartments — tucked into the handle structure and flap — gave the bag a playful name and an outsized cultural footprint. It was on the arm of every It girl of the mid-2000s: Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff, Beyoncé.

Twenty years on, that cultural weight is having a moment of reckoning — Fendi marked the Spy's 20th anniversary in 2025 with a full relaunch, with new iterations retailing at £3,000–£4,900. That relaunch is the clearest possible signal: the original is the one to own. Vintage Spy bags in good condition are actively traded on the secondary market, and the black leather in the original embossed nappa is the most versatile and consistently sought-after expression.

Material: Heavily pebbled nappa leather in black with woven intrecciato leather handles and gold-tone hardware.

Features: Signature heavily pebbled nappa leather body with the Spy's distinctive rounded silhouette, dual woven intrecciato leather top handles, gold-tone ring clasp with engraved FENDI logo, woven leather tassel pull housing the signature hidden spy compartment, and additional concealed interior pocket. Interior finished in Zucchino FF monogram fabric lining.

  • Pebbled nappa leather body is in very good overall condition, showing only minimal signs of wear consistent with careful use.
  • Base and corners of the bag are in very good condition with no obvious damage or wear.
  • Woven intrecciato leather handles are in very good condition.
  • Gold-tone metal hardware — including the ring clasp, FENDI logo lock and tassel hardware — is in good overall condition with only very mild surface scratching; otherwise presents well.
  • Spy compartment clasp and woven leather tassel pull show very light signs of use.
  • Interior Zucchino FF monogram lining is in very good condition with only very light signs of use.
  • Original hologram authentication tag present (ref. AH82039).

Once your bag is on its way, you'll receive a tracking link by email so you can follow it from our hands to yours. We ship worldwide; international buyers may be liable for import duties or taxes levied by their destination country at the point of arrival.

If your bag isn't quite right, you may return it within 14 days of delivery for a refund. Returns must be sent back in the exact condition received, with all accompanying items (dust bag, authenticity card and packaging where supplied), and with the EBV London security tag attached and intact. Return postage is arranged by you using a fully tracked and insured service — we recommend Royal Mail Special Delivery within the UK or DHL Express internationally.
