The Y2K Cult Classic

The Courtney was created as part of Louis Vuitton's celebrated collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, whose Monogram Multicolore transformed the house's traditional brown canvas into a palette of 33 vividly coloured motifs. First introduced in 2003, the collaboration became one of the defining accessories moments of the early 2000s and remains particularly recognisable within Louis Vuitton's archive.

Named after Courtney Love, the Courtney translates Murakami's playful Monogram into a more structured, studded silhouette. This black version is particularly striking, with the rainbow monogram set against black canvas and rows of gold-tone studs framing the substantial leather handles.

The original Murakami collaboration has since become one of Louis Vuitton's most recognisable archival partnerships, with the house returning to the collection for a major re-edition more than two decades after its original debut.

Size + Condition

Material: Black Monogram Multicolore coated canvas with natural vachetta leather trim, gold-tone hardware and stud detailing.

Features: Structured bowling-style silhouette, twin leather top handles, detachable shoulder strap, exposed zip closure and signature studded leather handle panels.

Era: Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami, circa 2009. (serial number imprinted in microfibre is unclear/faded).

Condition: Good

This bag presents in good condition overall, with the majority of the canvas and leather detailing remaining very well preserved. Specific notes are as follows:

Black canvas and coloured Monogram Multicolore are in very good condition, with no notable staining, scratching or significant signs of wear throughout.
Natural vachetta leather is in good condition with minor signs of age and use. Both lower corners show some light darkening/soiling consistent with wear.
Leather detailing and studded panels throughout are in very good condition.
Zip and metal hardware are in good condition overall, with only minor signs of wear and some subtle darkening around the handle fittings.
Metal LV zip pulls show minor scratching but remain fully functional.
Handles show some darkening to the interior and light scratching throughout, consistent with previous use.
Interior shows mild signs of wear and leather logo shows some darkening.

Please note: the detachable shoulder strap is a later replacement and is made from newer, lighter-coloured Louis Vuitton leather, so it does not perfectly match the age/patina of the original bag. The serial number also appears unclear in the microfibre interior.

Once your bag is on its way, you'll receive a tracking link by email so you can follow it from our hands to yours. We ship worldwide; international buyers may be liable for import duties or taxes levied by their destination country at the point of arrival.

If your bag isn't quite right, you may return it within 14 days of delivery for a refund. Returns must be sent back in the exact condition received, with all accompanying items (dust bag, authenticity card and packaging where supplied), and with the EBV London security tag attached and intact. Return postage is arranged by you using a fully tracked and insured service — we recommend Royal Mail Special Delivery within the UK or DHL Express internationally.
